One of the things that people tend to love about Jeep Wranglers is the ability to customize the vehicle’s appearance. With the plug-in hybrid 4xe model, drivers don’t lose this ability. You can still remove the roof with ease, and here’s how you can do it.
Only available in the 4-door Unlimited body style, the Sahara and High Altitude trims come standard with the three-piece hardtop that is the same colour as the SUV. Meanwhile, the Rubicon features the black Sunrider soft top.
To take the solid roof version off, you will start by opening the doors and windows. Then, unclip the sun visors. Next, unlatch the L-shaped locks and unscrew the rear fastener knobs on the rollbar until they are completely out. Unclamp the header panel latch and begin removing the pieces beginning with the driver’s side panel.
For the back piece, fold the rear seats down and grab the Torx tool kit. You’ll need the T40 screwdriver to remove all 8 head screws. Then, disconnect the wiring harness and washer hose. Finally, lift and remove the back section, and you are done!
